Le verbe close, "fermer", se prononce avec un [z], le passé closed avec [zd].

Please close the door and keep it closed.
Ferme la porte, s'il te plaît, et garde-la fermée.

The garage which supplied us with petrol has closed.
Le garage qui nous fournissait l'essence a fermé.

Close, adjectif / adverbe

L'adjectif / adverbe close, "proche, près", se prononce avec un [s], tout comme le comparatif closer:

The hotel is close to the station.
L'hôtel est près de la gare.

He has found a job, but earns close to nothing.
Il a trouvé un emploi, mais ne gagne presque rien.

Come a little bit closer.
