Pronoms interrogatifs
Les pronoms interrogatifs sont :
Who (Whom, Whose) ? What ? Which ?
- On emploie Who pour une personne, What pour une chose :
Who killed the cat ? Qui a tué le chat ? What caused the accident ? Qu’est-ce qui a causé l’accident ?
- Whose (et non pas Who's) est le génitif, Whom la forme objet ou post-préposition en anglais soigné.
Whose child is this ? A (de) qui est cet enfant ? Who(m) did you meet at the conference ? Qui as-tu rencontré au colloque ? To who(m) did you talk ? / Who(m) did you talk to ? A qui as-tu parlé ?
- On emploie Which plutôt que What lorsque la question a trait à un choix :
What are you doing there ? Que fais-tu là ? Which bus goes to the zoo ? Quel bus va au jardin zoologique ?
Accord Sujet / Verbe
Who, What et Which sujet peuvent prendre un verbe au singulier ou au pluriel :
