Les adverbes interrogatifs tels que Where, when, how, why, etc. portent sur une circonstance. Ils se trouvent en début de phrase, mais n’en sont pas le sujet :
Where are they going ? Où vont-ils ? How did you manage ? Comment t’es-tu débrouillé ?
Why have they left ? Pourquoi sont-ils partis ?
Dans les questions indirectes, ils servent de conjonction :
They came to ask where to find him (adverbe interrogatif). Ils vinrent demander où le trouver. She wanted to know how to get to the station (adverbe interrogatif). Elle voulait savoir comment arriver à la gare
