Indeed peut être employé comme conjonction en tête de proposition, mais cet emploi est plus rare qu’ "En effet" en français. L’anglais a tendance à employer for ou deux points (:)
Il fallait pas mal de patience pour l’écouter; en effet, il parlait très lentement. Listening to him demanded a lot of patience; for he was a very slow speaker.

Indeed peut aussi être employé comme Adverbe pour renforcer une affirmation :
