L'anglais n'accepte pas la double négation
I never travel by train. Je ne voyage jamais en train. (2 négations) Nobody has ever done anything for them. Personne n'a jamais rien fait pour eux. (4 négations)
I don't understand anything. (1 négation) I understand nothing. (1 négation) Je ne comprends rien. (2 négations) Non capisco niente. (2 négations) No entiendo nada. (2 négations)
Une seule négation suffit :
En anglais, la négation s'exprime au moyen d'un seul marqueur négatif, souvent not ou n't :
Un adverbe négatif (ou «semi-négatif»)
not, never, nowhere, only … (rarely, hardly, …) jamais, nulle part, seulement ... (rarement, à peine)
Un verbe ou auxiliaire/opérateur + not ou n't
do not => don't, does not => doesn't, am not, cannot, ...

Un sujet ou objet négatif
nobody, nothing, ... personne, rien, …
Double négation
La double négation peut se trouver en anglais, mais n'est pas acceptable en anglais standard :
I don't understand nothing.Je ne comprends rien.I ain't got no friends.Je n'ai pas d'amis.
